Best Toasted White Chocolate Mocha: Easy Recipe

While classic white chocolate mochas are amazing, it is nice to change things up from time to time. Especially during the holiday season. This is where the toasted white mocha comes in. It is a sweet treat that takes the white mocha to the next level.

So, so if you have a sweet tooth or are one of the white chocolate fans out there… you are in for a treat with this sweet drink.

But first, how does a white mocha and a toasted white mocha differ?

White Mocha vs Toasted White Mocha

These two coffee drinks are pretty much the same. The only difference is that a regular white chocolate mocha uses normal white chocolate syrup/sauce. Whereas a toasted white mocha is made with toasted white mocha syrup/sauce.

These two mocha sauces are very similar. The only thing that is different is that toasted white chocolate mocha sauce also includes dulce de leche. All the other ingredients for the sauces are the same.

What Coffee is Best?

If you like a medium roast, I can really recommend Starbucks’s Pike Place roast.

When it comes to dark roasts, I really like Starbucks’s Caffè Verona beans.

Do I Need an Espresso Machine?

Not at all. You can totally make this coffee drink with an AeroPress or Moka pot. My favorite of the two is an AeroPress, but Moka pots are also great.

Another option is instant espresso.

I don’t recommend your using any other brewed coffee. Although it might be strong coffee it is not as concentrated as espresso. So, the result won’t be the same.

What Type Of Milk is Best?

The kind of milk is really up to you. Whole milk makes more stable foam and a creamier drink. However, seeing as this toasted white chocolate mocha recipe asks for whipped cream, the drink is already quite creamy.

But irrespective of that, you can always go for low-fat milk or skim milk. Both of these also work well and the plus point of using them is a few calories less.

Milk Alternatives

You can also opt for non-dairy milk. Examples of milk that you can try is almond milk, oat milk, soy milk, or coconut milk.

How to Froth the Milk

If you don’t have an espresso maker with a steam wand, you can also use a handheld milk frother, French press or mason jar to froth the milk with.

My favorite of these methods is using a French press. My reasons are that most coffee enthusiasts already have one at home and if they don’t French presses are fairly cheap.

Frothing Milk with a French Press

Using a French press is probably the easiest way to make great milk froth for your coffee. You simply put the milk in a the French press and pop it into the microwave for about two minutes.

If your French press has shiny parts and can’t go in the microwave, simply warm the milk in another container. Then transfer the warm milk to the French press.

Next, you vigorously plunge for about 15-20 seconds and voilà, you have frothed milk.

Sprinkles Alternatives

I used green and red sprinkles for this latte, because it looks festive. However, your options are near limitless. Here are some other toppings that you can try:

  1. Cranberry sugar
  2. Holiday sugar sparkles
  3. Crispy white pearls

Iced Toasted White Mocha

Iced coffees are always great when it is a hot summer’s day. An iced toasted white chocolate mocha is no different.

You can make this hot drink into a cold coffee drink by adding coffee ice cubes to the espresso and sauce mixture. Also, don’t steam or warm the milk. Rather make cold froth.
