Best Snickerdoodle Latte Recipe: Easy Homemade Coffee

The best way to describe a snickerdoodle latte is sweet and aromatic. It is perfect for those cold winter’s days surrounding the holidays when you just want to curl up on the couch with a book.

Like the cookie that inspired the coffee drink, this delicious latte is infused with cinnamon and nutmeg giving it that aroma characteristic of a snickerdoodle cookie.

What is a Snickerdoodle?

I have to admit, I think it is quite a funny name. The first time I heard it, I was quite intrigued.

But basically, it is a cookie that is made with butter, flour and sugar. It is also rolled in cinnamon sugar and then baked to perfection.

What is a Snickerdoodle Latte?

A snickerdoodle latte is basically a traditional latte infused with cinnamon and nutmeg. It is then sweetened with some white mocha sauce. You can optionally add some whipped cream to take this delicious latte to the next level.

Ingredients for a Snickerdoodle Latte

  1. Coffee grounds
  2. ¾ cup whole milk
  3. ½ tsp cinnamon
  4. ¼ tsp nutmeg
  5. 1 tbsp white mocha sauce
  6. Whipped cream (optional)
  7. Cinnamon for sprinkling (optional)

What If I Don’t Have an Espresso Machine?

If you don’t have an espresso machine it is not a problem at all. You can also use a moka pot or AeroPress. They both make espresso-like coffee.

I like both of these brewing methods. However, I slightly prefer my AeroPress over a moka pot.

I don’t recommend that you use coffee made with, for example, a drip coffee machine or French press. Both of these methods make strong coffee. But it is not as concentrated as espresso. So, the effect won’t be the same.

Rather use instant espresso. Nescafé instant espresso is quite good.

What Coffee Should I Use?

If you like a medium roast, I can really recommend Starbucks’s Pike Place roast. If you prefer a dark roast, Starbucks’s Caffè Verona blend is really good.

What Kind of Milk is Best?

I like whole milk because the higher fat content helps to preserve the foam for longer and it is creamier. However, low-fat milk and skim milk will both also do the job. They are better options if you are on a low-calorie diet.

Non-Dairy Milk

You can also try dairy alternatives like oat milk, almond milk, soy milk, or coconut milk.

Look for the barista versions. They have been made to froth well.

How to Froth Milk?

If you don’t have a coffee machine with a steam wand, you can use a French press, handheld milk frother or mason jar to froth your milk.

I like using a French press most. Most coffee lovers already have one at home and if they don’t French presses are not that expensive.

Iced Snickerdoodle Latte Recipe

You can, of course, make this latte into the perfect drink to enjoy on those warm summer’s days on which you crave a cold coffee drink.

Simply add coffee ice cubes to the espresso and mocha sauce mixture.

Then, froth cold milk instead of steaming and heating the milk.

Top it with some whipped cream and sprinkle some cinnamon over.

How to order a snickerdoodle latte at Starbucks?

As a snickerdoodle latte is not standard on the Starbucks menu. You’ll have to customise one of their existing drinks.
Simply order a cinnamon dolce latte and ask the barista to swap half the cinnamon dolce syrup for white mocha sauce.
