Best Nutella Latte Recipe: Easy Hot or Iced Coffee

Since I was I child Nutella has been one of my favorite things. That is why I was quite intrigued when I learned that people use it in lattes, because I love lattes. And the addition of Nutella to my favorite coffee drink sounded divine.

This delicious beverage did not disappoint… still doesn’t. And I truly believe that all coffee lovers with a sweet tooth should try this homemade Nutella latte at least once.

In this post, I’ll give you a simple recipe that with a few simple ingredients and steps that will leave you with a cup of coffee that is hard to compete with.

What is Nutella?

Nutella is a spread that is more than simply a hazelnut chocolate spread with a creamy texture. It is the best thing that can happen to a piece of toast…

And now, combined with coffee it has gone to the next level.

Ingredients for a Nutella Latte

  1. Ground coffee
  2. ¾ cup milk of choice
  3. 1 tbsp Nutella

Do I Need an Espresso Machine?

It is not a requirement to use an espresso machine for this coffee. Both a Moka pot and an AeroPress will do the job well. Both makes espresso-like coffee that will make for an amazing Nutella latte.

Espresso machine

If you don’t have either of those, you could also use instant espresso. Just don’t use regular brewed coffee. Although it might be strong coffee, it is not as concentrated as espresso and won’t give you the same level of amazing.

What Coffee Should I Use?

You can try Starbucks’s Pike Place Roast or their Caffè Verona beans. Both of these are very high on my list of favorite coffee beans.

What Kind of Milk Should Use?

The type of milk that you use is really a matter of personal preference. While whole milk will give you more stable foam and a creamier drink, skim milk and low-fat milk have less calories.

You can also try dairy alternatives. Almond milk or hazelnut milk should both work well. Their nuttiness will go well with the subtle hazelnut flavor of Nutella.

How to Froth Milk Without a Steam Wand

If you don’t have an espresso machine with a steam wand, it is not a problem. You can froth it with a handheld milk frother or a French press. A French press is my favorite, because most coffee lovers already have one at home and if not, they are fairly cheap.

First, put the milk in the microwave for a minute. (If you are going to use a French press and yours doesn’t have shiny parts you can put the in the French press from the start instead of using another container first.)

After heating the milk, you will froth it. If you are using a milk frother, simply put the wand in the milk and switch it on. With a French press you froth it by plunging vigorously up and down for about 20 seconds.

Nutella Cold Brew

If you like the taste of cold brew coffee, another cold coffee that you can make using Nutella is a Nutella cold brew.

You can make this chocolaty Nutella coffee to the next level by making it even creamier. Simply add some whipped cream on top and you’re good to go.
