Glorious Maple Gingerbread Latte Recipe: Homemade Coffee

Spicy coziness is the best way to describe this amazing latte with. It will invigorate your senses and welcome the feeling of the holidays into your house.

This latte is made with my maple gingerbread syrup, which, is a combination of maple syrup, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg.

The spicy sweetness of the syrup perfectly compliments the bold taste of coffee.

Ingredients for Maple Gingerbread Syrup

  1. 2 tbsp maple syrup
  2. 1 tsp water
  3. ½ tsp ground ginger
  4. A pinch of cinnamon
  5. A pinch of nutmeg
  6. A pinch of cloves

Maple Syrup vs Maple Flavored Syrup

Pure maple syrup is made from maple sap. However, maple flavored syrup is sugar syrup that they added some flavoring to so that it tastes similar to real maple syrup.

Pure maple syrup is more runny than maple flavored syrup. So, if you use maple flavored syrup instead of the pure syrup, just use a tablespoon of water instead of a teaspoon of water.

What Coffee is Best?

If you like a medium roast I can really recommend Starbucks’s Pike Place roast. If you are more of a dark roast kinda person, Starbucks’s Caffè Verona blend is a great option.

What if I Don’t Have an Espresso Machine?

If you don’t have a fancy espresso machine it is not a problem at all.

You can use a Moka pot or AeroPress instead. Both of them make espresso-like coffee.

Of the two, I prefer the AeroPress, but a Moka pot really also makes great coffee.

If you don’t have either of those, you can also use instant espresso. I can recommend Nescafé’s instant espresso. It is pretty close to the real thing.

What Kind of Milk Should I Use?

Whole milk gives you a really creamy drink. However, it adds quite a few extra calories to your drink.

If you prefer, you can really go for skim milk or low-fat milk.

Dairy Alternatives

You can also go for plant-based milk such as oat milk, almond milk, or soy milk. Look for the barista versions. They have been made for us coffee lovers.
