Is an Espresso Machine Necessary?

No, you don’t need an espresso machine. You can also opt for a Moka pot or AeroPress. Both of these make espresso-like coffee that will work perfectly for this recipe.

What Coffee Beans Should I Use?

Personally, I really like Starbucks’ Pike Place roast. However, when I don’t feel like a medium roast and want to go for a dark roast, their Caffè Verona roast is very high on my list of favorites.

Type of Milk

The kind of milk that you use is not that important and is totally up to personal preference. Whole milk contributes to the creaminess of the coffee and makes it a bit sweeter. However, 2% milk and skim milk also work well with the added benefit of fewer calories.

Non-Dairy Milk

You can even opt for plant-based milk like oat milk, soy milk, almond milk, or coconut milk. Maybe look for the barista versions of these dairy milk alternatives. They have been made to froth well.

Chocolate Hazelnut Latte

To make a chocolate hazelnut latte use only half a tablespoon of hazelnut syrup and add half a tablespoon of chocolate syrup. You can also top it with some dark chocolate pieces to finish it off.

Iced Hazelnut Latte

To make an iced hazelnut latte add some coffee ice cubes to the espresso-syrup mix and foam cold milk instead of using warm milk.
