I think one of my absolute favorite flavors in this world is cinnamon. No kidding. And add it to my other favorite, coffee with a splash of sweetness and you have a sure win. Behold, the cinnamon dolce latte…
The word dolce means sweet in Italian and that is exactly what this drink is. It is a latte with really sweet cinnamon syrup added to it.
In this post, I will show you how to make your own cinnamon dolce syrup. I will also show you how to make this delicious latte right from the comfort of your own home.
The good news is that neither of these recipes is really hard and both calls for very simple ingredients.
How to Make Cinnamon Dolce Syrup
- 1 cup water
- ¾ cup light brown or white sugar
- ¼ cup dark brown sugar
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
- Combine all the ingredients in a small saucepan
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat
- Turn down the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes
- Let the syrup cool down
- Remove the cinnamon sticks and transfer to an airtight container
Store the syrup in your fridge. It should last up to two weeks.

Some Notes About the Ingredients
I use Starbucks’ Pike Place Roast and can really recommend it.
Also, I use a single shot of espresso, but you can increase the number of shots of espresso that you use.
Method of Making Coffee
A latte is per definition an espresso-based coffee drink. This means that it is best made with espresso. However, not everyone has an espresso machine. In that case, you can use a Moka pot or an AeroPress for the coffee.
I don’t recommend using a French press or drip coffee maker. They can make strong coffee, yes, however, it is not as concentrated as espresso. I’d rather use instant espresso like Nescafé’s instant espresso.
I like using whole milk. It works the best for frothing. However, you really don’t have to stick to it.
You also don’t have to stick to dairy milk. You can go for plant-based milks like oat milk or almond milk too.
Frothing the Milk
Also, when it comes to frothing the milk you don’t need an espresso machine with a steam wand. You can use a handheld milk frother, French press, or mason jar too. Using a French press is my favorite method.
Iced Cinnamon Dolce Latte
Add some coffee ice cubes (normal ones will water down your drink) to the espresso-syrup mix and make yourself an iced coffee.
Froth cold milk. Don’t heat it. A handheld milk frother, French press, or mason jar works well for this.
Top it off with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
For a really creamy latte, you can add some whipped cream to the mix.
You can use homemade whipped cream or buy a can of it. I usually stick to the cans, but you don’t have to.
