Best Caramel Iced Coffee Recipe: McDonald’s Inspired

So, the other day I tried McDonald’s caramel iced coffee for the first time and it is safe to say I am in love.

The coffee was really tasty and the perfect cure for a ridiculously hot day. I ended up in my kitchen trying to make my own version of this drink and decided to share it with you guys.

Ingredients for Caramel Iced Coffee

The ingredients for amazing caramel iced coffee are the following:

  1. Ground coffee beans
  2. Lots of ice cubes
  3. 2 tablespoons of caramel syrup
  4. 1 ½ cup cold milk

Some Notes on the Ingredients

Do I Need a Coffee Machine?

Not at all. You can always use an AeroPress or Moka pot to make espresso-like coffee. You also get instant espresso that can work well.

I don’t recommend your using other kinds of coffee, such as French press or drip machine coffee. It is not quite as concentrated as espresso. So, your coffee won’t compare to the real thing.

Using Coffee Ice Cubes

Usually, I recommend using coffee ice cubes instead of normal ones because the normal ones will water down your drink. However, McDonald’s uses normal ice and since this recipe has been inspired by them, I feel that the normal ones are perfect.

Homemade Syrup vs Store-Bought Syrup

Honestly, it doesn’t matter which of these two you prefer. If I am lazy I go for store-bought syrup and when I am in the mood to play in the kitchen I make it myself. Here is a great caramel syrup recipe to try.

Kind of Milk

If you prefer to use plant-based milk alternatives in the stead of normal dairy milk, go for it. I’m sure that it will still work really great.

However, I am not really a fan of the taste of non-dairy milk. So, I really can’t make recommendation on which will work well. Yet, I’m sure with some experimentation you will find the right type of milk for your taste.

Cold Brew

Although I am quite the espresso fan, I must admit that cold brew can be a nice way to switch things up a little from time to time. There are two ways to make it:

  1. The traditional cold brew method
  2. AeroPress cold brew

Many people prefer the traditional method because they feel that the taste is better. I don’t really agree with that. I think that the AeroPress cold brew method tastes quite similar and the upside is that it takes mere minutes instead of hours to make.

Normal Iced Coffee

Although flavored iced coffee is great it can sometimes be too sweet. In that case why not try out this normal iced coffee recipe?
